Upcoming Training

Theory is conducted at Alvie Hall, corner of High Street Rd & Alvie Rd, Mount Waverley, on the Friday night starting at 7.30 sharp.

From 2019 The Practical will be held at Melbourne 4x4 & Proving Ground near Werribee. 135 Dukelows Road Werribee ( Mt Cottrell ) Victoria 3030 Australia - Approx 25 Mins west of Melbourne CBD.

Start Date (Theory): 21/02/2020

End Date (Practical): 23/02/2020

Please note that practical day is subject to fire danger status and if there is any concern about fire danger we will postpone the training. You will be advised if this is likely.

You will have an induction into how the Melbourne Jeep Owners Club runs trips, various club rules and procedures as well as develop a better understanding of how your Jeep works. We will ensure you learn how to get the best from your vehicle and enhance your driving skills to maximise your fun and enjoyment from your MJOC experience.

MJOC Basic Driver Training course is designed to ensure all drivers have a minimum competency of driving and vehicle control and recovery skills in 4WD terrain. The course encompasses aspects of driving and vehicle control skills to enable members to participate with confidence and safety on MJOC trips.

With a specific focus on Jeep four wheel systems the course includes four wheel driving skills, vehicle control, recovery, convoy and communication as well as many, many tips and tricks rom our experienced instructors and helpers

Standard Jeeps are more than suitable so you do not need to modify your vehicle for this course. In fact you will learn more about your vehicles capabilities and develop better driving skills using an unmodified vehicle.

Each individual participant must book on for training so we can have accurate numbers so if you have a family membership and 2 people are completing training, please make 2 bookings onto training.

The course is strictly limited to 10 driving participants but if it is over subscribed book as a standby anyway because we often get cancelations.

Theory is conducted on the Friday night prior starting at 7.30 sharp at Alvie Hall, Alvie Road, Mt Waverley (corner of Alvie Road and High St Road).

Practical is held in the bush and is in a real world environment. You will experience various 4WD training exercises, convoy and communications and various recovery techniques.  The practical day generally ends around 5 pm. It is held approximately 1 hour east of Melbourne in the Narbethong area.

We provide all recovery gear etc. on the day but you can bring along your own if you want. Bring you lunch and drinks and all weather gear just in case.

This is a serious training course so we recommend no children or non participating passengers (partners are ok).

Please note- that we advise removal of low clearance side steps and front lower facia panels on some lower clearance vehicles including Cherokee and Grand Cherokee models. Instructions are in your Jeep Handbook for this. All vehicles will need front and rear recovery points (WK2 Grand Cherokee do not normally have these at the front). You will also need to remove your Tow Ball Receiver hitch but put the holding pin back in, we will go into more details on the theory night.
