Melbourne Jeep Owners Club

Hi Everyone,

Here are some key things that are happening in your club at the moment:

1. Muster and our 25 Year Celebrations:

It is MUSTER WEEK and the Muster Team has been working overtime to get everything ready for you. There are plenty of events for young and old. Including an Easter egg hunt, trips to Narbeview Animal Wildlife Shelter and various easy, medium and difficult trips to suit all skill levels. A wonderful spit roast dinner will be provided on Saturday night and we will be joined by representatives from Jeep Australia and Four Wheel Drive Victoria. We will be drawing the Monster raffle on the night so if you haven't already purchased tickets sign into our web site and you can purchase tickets through the MJOC shop. The generous ladies from the Alexandra Show Committee will be cooking up breakfast for us on Saturday and Sunday morning. And if would like a relaxing Sunday after getting up early for the Easter Egg hunt why not drop into the Alexandra Easter Fair in Rotary Park.

2. Photo Competition:

A reminder that we are ready to launch the new virtual membership card and Mobile app. We need to set up the art work for both and would like your input. As previously advised we have launched a competition to select the two images and there will be a prize for the winners.
The Membership Card will be credit card size so we will require a landscape photo for this. The photo for the mobile app should be in portrait. Each file should be 1012px x 638px and you can use full colour right up to the edge. Ideally the pictures should include different types of Jeep's and should reflect the things that we love doing as a club. Please forward your photos to president@mjoc.org.au and if you are not the photographer please ensure that you/we have permission to use the image. Submissions to the competition will close on Saturday 23rd April 2022. This will give you the opportunity to include photos from the Muster. We will then load the photos onto the system and provide all members with an opportunity to vote on their favourites. Voting will close on Wednesday 25th May and the winners will be announced at the Members Meeting on Tuesday 31st May 2022.

3. 4WDV Update:

3.1 Toolangi Training Facility:

Many of you will be aware that 4WDV has managed to secure a 10 year lease for a peppercorn rent at the old Castella Quarry in Toolangi. They have taken possession of the property and are in the process of preparing it to become a 4WD training facility which will be available for all member clubs to use. There is a significant amount of site remediation required which could take up to a year to complete.

3.2 HQ Property Acquisition:

4WDV has sought the Clubs input on their intention to move out of rented premises and to purchase a warehouse type facility. The intention is that the property would:
  • become the Head Quarters for the Victoria Association of Four Wheel Drive Clubs;
  • become a 4WD Training Centre;
  • provide meeting facilities for groups of 10 to 100 people;
  • have storage facilties;
  • include a kitchen and facilities for social activities.
The initial financial analysis of the proposal is very positive. Based on input from member clubs the association is currently updating their business case and will present this to member clubs prior to any final decision.

4. ARMA Update:

As discussed at the previous Members meeting the Committee is currently reviewing whether our association with ARMA provides sufficient benefit to warrant the annual membership fee of approx $2,000. If you have a strong view on this matter, either way, please let me or another member of your Committee know so that your views are taken into account. The next payment to ARMA is due in June so we would like to make a decision by May and to advise ARMA accordingly.

5. Website Updates:
