Trips, Trips, and More Trips...!!!!!

At least we used to have that as one of our mottos.
I was recently looking at the upcoming events and was shocked to see that we had no trips on the calendar until the Cape York trip in September. This time last year we had trips happening almost every weekend.
Our club has always prided itself on the large number of trips we run during the year and it was to say the least, very disappointing that none of our 40 plus trip leaders had planned a trip in the coming months.
So I posted a trip. A medium trip in the Narbethong area. Within 24 hours we had 17 people registered and waitlisted. So our members obviously wanted  to go on trips. A second Trip Leader was found to split the convoy and we had a great day out playing in the mud and getting together in our vehicles.
I know there are always reasons for not getting out in the bush, the car is broken, we have family stuff or the timing does not work, and we get that. But, if each trip leader ran just one trip over the course of a year we would have plenty of trips happening.
We know some tracks are seasonally closed but there are still heaps of places to go wheeling at this time of the year.
Our members are looking to go on trips and we need our trip leaders to start planning and running a trip, soon. If trip leaders need help to get a trip happening please reach out to Operations
operations@mjoc.org.au

Regards
Ian Fletcher

Medical and Emergency Details on Trips

It is a good idea to have your personal details such as Medications, First Aid Instructions, Next of kin etc. documented and available in case of an emergency when you are on club trips.

We suggest that you complete the form below and place it in a sealed envelope and store it the glove box of your vehicle where a first aid person or trip leader can access it should something go wrong.

This should be done also for any passengers in your vehicle. This will be of particular use should you have pre-existing medical conditions where medical instructions can be available to first responders etc.

Download and print the Personal details Document here and keep it in the glovebox. Just let the trip leader know its there just in case.

Have a great idea for a trip,
but not yet a Trip Leader?

If you are not a trained MJOC Trip Leader and the idea you have is for an Easy rated trip then you can run it your self. If your idea is for a more challenging style of trip such as a Medium, Difficult or Very Difficult then we can arrange a Trip Leader to run the trip for you. You could even help them do this too!.

An Easy Trip is either a social event with no 4WD needed or a trip that only requires high range 4WD with nothing too challenging. This style event suits those with an All Wheel Drive vehicle or those that have not yet done the MJOC Proficiency training.
Ideas can include events like
Show and Shine Competition
Easy 4WD trip through the local ranges
Easy Social Event such as a BBQ or Picnic
Go Kart Racing
Archery
Bushwalking
Fishing
Event or Trip for older Jeeps
Special destination or location

To enquire about how to do this you just complete the online form and it will be sent to our Operations Officer who can work with you to make it happen.'

You can complete the online form here.

Update Your Member Information

We recently changed a few things in the reporting functions that will enable members Chainsaw or First Aid Qualifications to appear on the Trip Leader documentation.

Unfortunately existing information could not be modified and we need you to re-enter it. So if you have a Chainsaw or First Aid qualification please go to your Additional Member Data section in your profile and update it.

And while you are there make sure your vehicle and personal details are up to date too!

Thanks
