Trip Leader Jake Thomson- Difficult Trip down to the dunes to climb and explore, for experienced sand drivers only
Tourist Information Centre
Fast-paced trip exploring the dunes & beaches. Suitable for ‘sand newbies’, as long as you have ‘difficult‘ trip experience. Full day on relatively easy tracks and beaches, with the occasional tougher track for thrown in. Air-down at the Tourist Info Centre before heading south towards Carpenter’s Rocks on as many beaches as we can, but ‘retreating’ back into the dunes if the going gets too soft. We’ll stop in the dunes for morning tea and lunch so bring drinks and snacks. The plan is to visit the windfarm look-out and hit the big dunes and drop-offs. Beach driving tips: low tyre pressures and forward momentum is the key, leave a decent gap for a good run up at the dunes and beach exits. If you get bogged, stop and wait for help. Dogs are not allowed in the national park.

Beachport to Robe via Little Dip NP. Conditions can be quite challenging in Little Dip NP.
Fast-paced trip exploring the dunes and beaches. Suitable for ‘sand newbies’, as long as you have ‘difficult‘ experience. Full day on relatively easy dune tracks and beaches, with the occasional tougher track thrown in. Air-down behind the Southern Ocean Caravan Park (Foster St) before heading north towards Robe on as many beaches as we can, but heading back into the dunes if the going gets too soft.
We’ll stop in the dunes for morning tea and lunch so bring drinks and snacks. We’ll visit the new spot near Nora Creina Bay for lunch (BYO supplies) and a paddle in the warm shallow waters. From Nora Creina we’ll head north into Little Dip Conservation Park ending up in Robe. Air-up in Robe and make your own way back to Beachport on the bitumen.
